RELIGION:  Test on chapter 15 on Friday, May 15th.

READING:  Our story of the week is The Strongest One.  Our vocabulary is securing, decorated, weakest, darkened, symbol, and gnaws.  We are working on summarizing, story mapping, plot, sequence, diagram, and antonyms.  We will have a spelling, grammar and reading test on Friday.  In grammar we are working on adjectives that compare.  We are also working on reader’s theatre together.  Our Final copy is due Monday, May 21st for our American Hero Report.

MATH:  In math we are working on chapter 11 on fractions.  We are learning to compare fractions, order fractions, model equivalent fractions, and find equivalent fractions.

READING:  Our story of the week is Stone Soup.  The vocabulary is agreeable, banquet, curiosity, gaze, guests, and untrusting.  We will be working on synonyms, inference, characters, charts, story mapping and comprehension.  In grammar we will be working on adjectives, articles, titles and abbreviations.  We will have a reading, grammar, and spelling test on Friday.

RELIGION:  We will have a test on Ch. 14th on Wednesday, May 9th and will begin Ch. 15 on vocations and being faithful to our commitments.  Please continue to send in food items for our food drive.

MATH:  We will have a test on Ch. 10 on Tuesday and will be learning about fractions and decimals.

Thursday, May 3rd – 10 am, National Day of Prayer

Friday, May 4th – MOTHER’S DAY AT ST. REGIS, meet at church at 8:30 am for Mass, musical program and a short classroom visit.

Due to the short week we will not have a reading, spelling or grammar test this week.  We will be working on Reader’s Theatre and reading groups.

RELIGION:  We are working on chapter 14 on the seven Sacraments.  Please read the parent page 211 and return signed.  We will have a test on this chapter on Wednesday, May 9th.  The chapter review is on pages 221 – 222.

MATH:  We are finishing our chapter on graphing and probability.  We will have a test on this chapter on Tuesday, May 8th.  A practice test is on pages 476 – 477.

BIOGRAPHY REPORT:  The outline is due on Wednesday, May 9th.  The rough draft is due on Monday, May 14th.  The final copy is due on Monday, May 21st.  Our presentation for the parents will be on Wednesday, June 6th at 2 pm.

READING:  In reading our story of the week is Unique Animals of the Southwest.  Our vocabulary of the week is female, identical, odor, related, sight, and venom.  We will be working on unknown words, compare and contrast, drawing conclusions, foreshadowing, and dictionary skills.  In grammar we are finishing our persuasive writing and working on contractions.  We will have a spelling, reading and grammar test on Friday.

AMERICAN HERO REPORT:  The outline is due on Wed., May 9th.  The rough draft is due on Monday, May 14th and the final copy and illustration is due on  Monday, May 21st.  We will be writing speeches in class and inviting the parents to a presentation on Wed. June 6th at 2:15.  An invitation will be coming soon.

RELIGION:  We will have a test on chapter 13 on Wednesday, April 24th.  Msgr. Chuck taught a religion class on St. Peter to both of the third grade classes.  The children were very attentive and interested.  Thank you Msgr. Kosanke!

MATH:  We are working on chapter 10 on data and probability.  We will be learning about line plots, range and mode, pictographs, bar graphs, ordered pairs, probability and making predictions.

Monday, April 16th:  Final copy and diorama due for Book Report Project.

Tuesday, April 17th:  Religion Test Chapter 12.

Wednesday, April 18th:  Math Test Chapter 9.

Monday, April 23rd:  Social Studies Test

Reading:  We are finishing reading the book, Lady Lollipop.  Our story of the week is Wilbur’s Boast.  We will be working on prefixes, drawing conclusions, fables, and personification.  Our vocabulary of the week is boast, conversation, interrupted, rebuild, scramble, and seized.  In Grammar we are studying possessive pronouns and completing our persuasive writing project.  Our reading, grammar, and spelling test will be on Friday.

Math:  We are completing chapter 9 on division through 10′s.  We will have a test on this chapter on Wednesday, April 18th.  Please keep drilling your child on their multiplication and division facts.  They need to be committed to memory.  Our next chapter will be on data and probability.

Religion:  We will have a test on chapter 12 on Tuesday.  We have been learning about the Rosary and will say one decade together each day until we complete one whole Rosary.  The chapter 12 review is on pages 187 – 188.  Please read and complete the parent page for chapter 13 on pages 199 – 200.  We will be studying continuing the mission of the Apostles.

RELIGION TEST CHAPTER 10 TUESDAY, MARCH 20TH

MATH TEST CHAPTER 8 WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21ST

READING:  Our story of the week is Animal Homes.  Our vocabulary is architects, contain, shallow, shelter, structure, and retreats.  We will be working on vocabulary, comprehension, summarizing, text structure, sequence, and following directions.  Our reading, spelling and grammar test will be on Friday.  In grammar we are working on subject pronouns.

MATH:  Our math test on chapter 8 will be on Wednesday.  A practice test is on page 388.  We will be covering division by 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.  The next chapter will be covering division by 6, 7, 8, and 9.  Please keep drilling your student on their multiplication and division facts.  There are some websites listed on my website for practice.

RELIGION:  Our Religion test on chapter 10 will be on Tuesday.  It will be on the parts of the Mass.

Reading – Our story of the week is Penguin Chick.  We will be learning about homographs, main idea and detail, and imagery.  Our vocabulary words are fierce, echoes, shuffles, huddle, down and junior.  In grammar we are working on pronouns and persuasive writing.  Our reading, grammar, and spelling test will be on Thursday this week.

Math – In math we are working on division.  Please drill your child on their division facts.  They need to be committed to memory.

Religion -  We are working on our Purple Books each day for Lent.  We are studying the Mass in chapter 10.  Please read and return the parent pages 153 – 154.

March 7th – Math Test on Geometry and Measurement

March 8th – Religion Test on chapter 9

Math – In math we are reviewing geometry and will be starting division this week.  Please review alll geometry terms with your child before the test on Wednesday, March 7th.  They should be able to identify lines, line segments, rays, right angles, acute angles, obtuse angles, right triangles, equilateral triangles, isosceles triangles, squares, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, quadrilaterals, parallelograms, congruent figures, similar figures, symmetry, perimeter, area and volume.

Reading – Our story of the week is Out of This World!  Our vocabulary words are communicate, responsible, specialist, research, essential, and decisions.  We will be working on vocabulary, comprehension, summarizing events, myths, theme, paraphrasing, imagery, synonyms, and compound words.  Our reading, spelling and grammar test will be on Friday.  In grammar we are working on irregular verbs.

Religion – In religion we are working on our Purple Lent Book everyday in class.  Also each child is working on acts of kindness on our flower lent sheets.  We will have a test on chapter 9 this Thursday, March 8th.  The chapter review is on pages 151 – 152.
