What We’re Working On This Week

Reading: We will start a new story, “The Tiny Seed.” We will talk about drawing conclusions, and closed syllable words.

Math: Last week we learned all about reading a clock. This week we will cover reading a calendar. Depending on how we do the test will be this Friday (5-25).  Keep on practicing those addition and subtraction facts!

Science: We will finish the chapter on life cycles and review. The test will be Wednesday May 30.

Grammar: We will learn about pronouns.

Handwriting: We’ll learn four new upper case letters!

Spelling: nap, napkin, cab, cabin, index, visit, object, cotton, happen, magnet, pepper, together, through, field, certain, hundred

What We’re Working On This Week

Reading: We will start a new story, “Mice and Beans.” We will cover the differences between fantasy and reality and inflected verbs.

Math: On Friday we did a fun activity to find out how long a minute really is. The week we will go over time.

Science: We will talk about plant life cycles this week.

Grammar: We will learn about contractions.

Handwriting: We’ll learn four new upper case letters!

What We’re Working On This Week

Reading: We will start a new story, “A Harbor Seal Pup Grows Up.” We will cover story sequence and antonyms.

Math:We will review measurement this week. The test on measurement will be on May 9. We will start time and calendar at the end of the week.

Science: We began learning about life cycles and will continue this week. Our butterflies arrived! We’ll be able to watch them grow and change in the coming weeks!

Grammar: We will learn about irregular verbs.

Handwriting: We’ll learn two new upper case letters!

**I think some of us have a case of Spring Fever! We’re having a very hard time following directions, listening, and working quietly. Please remind your child of the importance of good behavior. I would hate to see conduct grades go down 4th quarter.

What We’re Working On This Week

Reading: We will start a new story, “A Trip to the Emergency Room.” We will cover story sequence and suffixes. 

Math:We will continue to work on measurement this week. The test on measurement will be on May 9.  Those children that are still working on addition really need to be practicing every night! I will begin to add subtraction grades in 4th quarter and if your child isn’t on subtraction yet, it will really effect their grade. What We’re Working On This Week

Reading: We will continue to work on the Story “Officer Buckle and Gloria.” We will learn how we can use illustrations to help us understand a story. We will also We will also learn more about synonyms this week.

Math:We began learn about measurement on Friday. We will work on measuring lenght this week. Those children that are still working on addition really need to be practicing every night! I will begin to add subtraction grades in 4th quarter and if your child isn’t on subtraction yet, it will really effect their grade. What We’re Working On This Week

Reading:We will continue to work on the story, Head, Body, Legs. We’ll continue to talk about cause and effect. He will start one of our favorites, Officer Buckle and Gloria.

Math: The test on multiplication and division will be on Wednesday (4-18).  We will start measurement on Friday. Continue to work on memorizing the addition and subtraction tables at home. Those children that are still working on addition really need to be practicing every night! I will begin to add subtraction grades in 4th quarter and if your child isn’t on subtraction yet, it will really effect their grade. Reading:We will start a new story. It is a story from Liberia called, Head, Body, Legs. We’ll continue to talk about cause and effect.

Math: We will review multiplication at the beginning of the week and then start division!  Continue to work on memorizing the addition and subtraction tables at home. I will begin to add subtraction grades in 4th quarter and if your child isn’t on subtraction yet, it will really effect their grade. Science: The bats were amazing! We got to see four different types up close! We will start a new chapter this week about how plants and animals live together.

What We’re Working On This Week

Reading:We began reading “Click, Clack, Moo” this week. We love that story! This week we will continue to work with the story. We will learn about cause and effect.

Math: We will review fractions on Monday. The chapter test will be on Wednesday (3-14).

Science: We started our bat unit last week! We talked about what we already knew about bats and we also came up with great question that we want to find out. We’ll start learning all sorts of neat stuff on Tuesday.

Grammar: We will learn about the verb have.

Handwriting: We have started cursive. We will learn two new letters this week.
